In my career as a technical advisor, network engineer, field technician and IT Manager I have found myself always wanting to help other such as the youth of inner city neighborhoods that strive to want a career in STEM. Being raised in an under served community myself I know firsthand how challenging it was to find after-school programs that catered to my interest in technology. In the past 20 years I have spoken at many Baltimore City, Baltimore County middle and high schools to kids at career days about my past experiences and the excitement of being in a STEM field. I also held several board positions at non-profit organizations in leadership roles and Pre-College Initiative roles as well. But the most exciting experiences while being a mentor to the youth is judging Science Fairs. I have judged about 6 so far and the most memorable was at the Baltimore Science Fair held every year at Morgan State University. There were so many creative and well thought of projects that those middle schoolers put together it was amazing.
